X-PlaneTM Desktop Flight Simulator Bush / Coastdog Adventures and More!

EPOCH Alaska Air VA

Follow the development of this virtual airline as the virtual C.O.O. starts the business and competes in the highly competitive and dangerous skies and strips of Western and Central Alaska.

Participate as the VA comes alive, join as either an occasional or preferred staff contract pilot, and do things here that other VA's only dream about.

This is a bush pilot's VA. It is a lonely yet fulfilling role that bush and coast dogs perform, and we'll give you the very best of this world.

Remember, at uX-Pa, the User's imagination is considered a part of the runtime code. You are the most important part of the experience!

Inside Passage Fix

Posted on October 15, 2014 at 10:40 PM Comments comments (0)

This is a quick note to those of you who are using Inside Passage, Final Frontier and Canadian Rockies payware scenery packages from Tom Curtis (Scenery4XP).

Our member She Pooley has worked out the details for a fix that you can do yourself to have the packages work properly in Version 10.25+ with or without HD Scenery. There are errors with some of the "WED-work", taxi lines, and a few sundry issues in total. Won't take but a half hour of your time, and it beats all the er...

Thanksgiving in Canada

So I thought that this year, instead of focusing almost exclusively on the US Thanksgiving celebration, I would give Canada its salute as well.

After all, CYXQ (one of the focus points of this weekend's fun) is Beaver Creek, Yukon - in Canada.

... and uX-Pa HQ (EPOCH Alaska Air's real world home) is in Canada.

Maybe that means that the $100 TurkeyBurger flight, to be released later on Sunday, will be just over the border as well.

Stay tuned, and...

How To Be an EPOCH Pilot

Posted on September 29, 2014 at 12:05 AM Comments comments (0)

It seems mighty odd typing a blog entry that looks to identify the processes required to be a pilot of our VA, given that EPOCH Alaska Air has been running for just under 2 years. But there you have it - we have never formally identified the way a new user might engage this rather odd yet refreshing approach to a Virtual Airline.

Moving forward then, may I please introduce you to FAQ #1,

Couple of Updates

Posted on September 2, 2014 at 1:00 AM Comments comments (0)

A quick one tonight then.

X-Hangar updated the M-7 Maule, including a new version called the TEA (Terrain Extreme) with huge fat tundra tires. The original EPOCH livery didn't work on this version, so Rick kindly got his virtual brushes busy and raised a new version.

Download the file again - in Downloads - for the changes.

The new sked flights #708 and #709 out of PASW Skwentna have been included in the Planning Form dropdown menu.

Yup! I'm back from my most excellent vacation with my family as we covered most of the east coast of Canada and toured many of the iconic sights like the Gaspe Peninsula in Quebec, the Cabot Trail in Cape Breton Island, the Fossil Beds in Nova Scotia, the Hopewell Rocks in New Brunswick etcetera. I even managed a few hours at the Alexander Graham Bell Museum on Cape Breton Island where the "Silver Dart" (first powered aircraft in Canada - flew in 1909) is on display.

Now tha...

Skedding With EPOCH

Posted on July 24, 2014 at 10:40 PM Comments comments (0)

Scheduled flight service is now available at EPOCH Alaska Air.

With several thousands of miles of scheduled Part 121 and Part 135 (modified to suit EPOCH) routes, sim pilots now have the added feature of flying skeds any day of the week - morning, mid-day or evening.

The process is detailed, but easy to get a handle on.

Closing on Skeds

This, my friends, is going to be a "post-crazy" week I think!

First of all, the Economy numbers are finished except for a few odds and ends for the Pilots who posted in the Online thread. We'll get those data sheets into the "Economy Page" in the next 2 days. As well, those pilots who participate in the Economy model shall see the chosen work and primary locations tied into the Economy spreadsheet.

Then of course it looks like the Big Draw for the winner of...
