I seem to recall there being a plugin for XP that kept track of one's last position and would place you there when you next fired up the sim. Am I right or imaging things? If so, was it created and available here or did I find it else where? And, if it still exists, will it work with XP10.5?

Thanks in advance,

CT

I have another question: can Duct Tape be used with all aircraft or should I avoid using it with the SoulMade Beaver which has a built in wave limiter?

Thanks,

CT

I think you're right about a plugin that remembered where you quit and maybe the state of the aircraft at that time like fuel etc. Believe it came from the org. I never used it but seems someone here did.

Thanks ottopilot9, wish I could remember the name of the plugin... oh well, I'll just search the plugin section at the org maybe it'll turn up.

BTW, love your wolf icon. beautiful creature, one of my very favourite animals. Had a great experience a few years back, I was on a camping trip with a buddy and we had a little sing song with a pack... lasted a good hour.

Alaskadad: thanks for your response however, it is my understanding that the XHobbs plugin keeps track of a given aircraft's air time rather than keeping track of its last geographical location then placing it in the same location upon your next XP start up.

@CptTroll, while Duct Tape can be applied to any aircraft (it's very handy for taildragger's too), I would not mix it with the SMS Beaver's built-in wave limiter.  While the full version of DT and SMS's wave limiter can both be toggled off, I would expect the unexpected.  Also, recall that both will interfere with real-time weather.

It does keep track of its last position. Here is a short description of it.

SHORT DESCRIPTION

Started as a Plugin which makes the Hobbs meter work for EACH and EVERY aircraft and gives some meaning to it.

It is now a plugin which re/stores a lot of stuff per aircraft or even livery aside to the Hobbs-Time, of course.

It will keep track of some data like position or fuel for each individual aircraft you fly in X-Plane.

So you will find your aircraft where and how you parked them, even floats!

Thank you Alaskadad, sounds what I'm looking for. I shall check it out.

Yes Rocky you are quite right, I recall having problems before with it installed in the SMS Beaver folder. I think too that the Goose and the Catalina have wave limiters, so DT not good for them.

@CptTroll, you are correct regarding the Goose & Catalina having wave limiters.

Sorry for joining in the conversation late.  Been on my backside w cold, flu, chest cold & achy, other than that all is great. :(

"X-Bookmark" didn't see it mentioned above. Plugin at the org. for windows, mac n cheese linux and I beleive the last version is June 4, 2015. I have not used it lately. https://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?/files/file/27397-x-bookmark/

For xp-9 & xp-10. Since xp remembers your last location + plane (not fuel etc.) this is good for returning to off airport locations with everything the way it was when you shut xp down, not sure about crash TDT

Some pre reading if you're just thinking about it etc. This text is in the download.

X-Bookmark Version 0.3 5/23/2015 Steven D. Wilson, Tucson AZ

Version 0.3 compiled by X-Plane.org forum member Sparker, to include

Mac and Linux versions.

This plugin remembers exactly where you were and what aircraft you were

flying the last time you exited X-Plane and returns you to that aircraft, place

and time.

 New for version 0.3:

The plugin is now fully cross-platform capable.

INSTALLATION:

Before using this version, please delete /Resources/Plugins/X-Bookmark if you

have an earlier version! That is a global version, and will conflict with the later

versions in unpredictable ways.

Extract the contents of the zip file. You will then have an extraction folder

called X-Bookmark_download. To install, copy the X-Bookmark subfolder into the

plugins directory of the aircraft of your choice, as many or as few as you wish.

The plugin should **NOT** be placed in the main Resources/Plugins directory.

It must be placed in a subdirectory called "plugins" within the aircraft folder(s)

that you intend to use it with.

For example:

/Aircraft/Helicopters/Bell 206/plugins

Resulting in:

/Aircraft/Helicopters/Bell 206/plugins/X-Bookmark

If a specific aircraft has the plugin, it will remember where it was

after every flight.

If you do not install this plugin into an aircraft/plugins folder, it will not

be available to the aircraft and X-Plane will behave normally.

X-Bookmark.stat must be present to enable X-Bookmark in either:

(aircraft)/plugins/X-Bookmark/32

(aircraft)/plugins/X-Bookmark/64

Any file named X-Bookmark.stat will enable the plugin as long as it is in the

correct directory. I suggest using a renamed copy of this README.

Both X-Plane bit versions are enabled when first installed.

Deleting the .stat file will disable the plugin. Remember it's 32/64 bit specific.

Be sure to delete the right one! Create a new one to re-enable in the 32

or 64 directory as needed. It can be an empty text file. It just has to be

named correctly: X-Bookmark.stat.

If the X-Bookmark.stat file is present, but an X-Bookmark saved situation is

not found, X-Plane will place your aircraft according to the settings in the

X-Plane Settings/Operations and Warnings menu.

If there *is* a bookmark, however, that's where you'll start, whether you were

on the ground or in the air when you last quit X-Plane.

This plugin is mainly intended for pilots that would like to leave their aircraft parked

in a particular spot, usually with all systems cold and dark.

Note that a situation will load the time of day too... this is an X-Plane "feature."

X-Bookmark makes no changes to the saved situation.

On first use, you'll be placed at a location defined by the X-Plane

Settings/Operations and Warnings menu. After that, you'll be placed

in the aircraft you were using when you exited X-Plane, and at the location

you were at the time as well, with all of the other situation data that

X-Plane normally saves.

If X-Plane crashes, X-Bookmark will not remember your last location and aircraft.

Instead, you will revert to the last successful X-Bookmark situation. If this is not

desired, simply delete the .sit file from /plugins/X-Bookmark after an X-Plane crash.

Use at your own risk. Minimal support - ask questions in tech support, not in the

Download Manager. I have no idea if people post there as the DM does not currently

notify authors of comments posted to their uploads. For some reason, "following" my

own uploads doesn't work. Sorry about that!

Continue to enjoy! Keep the dirty side down.

Steve

Thanks gofigure, thats the one I was trying to remember. I have a feeling that I experienced some issues with the plugin but can't remember under what circumstances, exactly.
