This is where you can find the dispatches that move the TOT (Heidi Sloan from Virginia) through the race. Dispatches will be effective from posting time until the TOT moves to the next stop on the trail. At this time the dispatch will be moved to the "Expired" topic and a new one will be issued. TOT dispatches can be flown at any time in the RW and flown with the suggested sim time (as it relates to her actual movement) unless noted otherwise in the dispatch. Have fun with these and "learn something new today."

Cheers,

bc

Iditarod DISPATCH #TOT- 001

-------------------------------

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Caveat: TOT Dispatches may be fewer and farther between again this year and definitely not current to real world as it seems she may not have her GPS tracker again this year.

The TOT (Heidi) did have a journal entry regarding her ceremonial start day and other weekend activities. So until we find out otherwise, here is the first TOT movement.

-------------------------------

Date/Time: Sunday - 1000 AKST

From: Iditarod Merrill (4900)

To: Iditarod Campbell (4901)

To: Wasilla (PAWS)

To: Iditarod Willow (4902)

Aircraft Requirements: 1 crew and safety gear (250 lbs), 2 pax + gear (520 lbs.).

Suggest: STOL, Small Slow Fixed Wing. Gravel and snow-covered landing surfaces.

Itinerary:

  • Select an appropriate aircraft and flight plan.
  • Fly empty from Merrill to Campbell.
  • Land, shut off engines, and wait for the TOT to complete her ceremonial start sled ride.
  • Load the "Teacher on the Trail", camera man, and gear (520lbs).
  • Takeoff and fly to Wasilla. Park near the GA ramp and shut off engines. The TOT and her cameraman will get a ride over to the Iditarod Headquarters in order to do a story and take some pictures. (approx sim time 2 hours / real life time as soon as you want)
  • Takeoff and fly to Willow in preparation for the official start.
  • Land at the checkpoint and taxi near the Iditarod unloading area, shut down and secure the aircraft. The TOT and cameraman will remain here until further notice.
  • Await further instructions/dispatches from IAF HQ.

Note(s):

1. You must be in full visuals of the ground at all times and follow VFR flight rules for the area. If not able, return to Merrill Field so ground transportation can be arranged.

2. There is a dispatch suggested time above but for EPOCH purposes, the dispatch will remain current until the next TOT dispatch is posted.

Caveat: Yay!!!!! The GPS tracker seems to be turned on now, but with some discrepancy between what the GPS log shows and what the TOT’s journal entry says, we will take some creative license with the 002 dispatch. It will also be released in multiple parts so you may choose to fly the entire scenario or pick and choose which individual dispatch(es) you want to fly. If you want to fly what the journal described… she drove back to Anchorage, caught a commercial flight to McGrath (probably in a C208 or B1900 or similar aircraft) and then caught a bush plane to Nikolai

ALL #TOT-002-## dispatches will be active until #003 is released
